Make your voice heard
The Tanque Verde Valley is changing. New development, conservation, infrastructure and policy decisions are shaping what this community will look like for generations to come. We exist to help you understand what's happening, why it matters and how to make your voice heard.
CURRENT ISSUES
What's happening in your backyard
You shouldn't need to be a land-use attorney to understand what's happening down the road. We follow the projects and decisions that affect the Valley, explain why they matter and tell you when you can take part.
OUR PRIORITIES
Growth and preservation, two parts of the same whole
The future of the Tanque Verde Valley isn't a choice between intentional growth and preservation. We need both: strong schools, local businesses and places to gather, alongside wildlife moving through our washes, connected trails, open desert, dark skies and horses along our roads.
What is intentional growth?
We can't stop growth, but we can have a voice in shaping what good, intentional growth looks like. Growth should always contribute to our community and the way of life we've worked so hard to preserve.
- Schools and families
Places and opportunities that help families put down roots and build a life here. - Local businesses
Restaurants, shops and businesses that serve our community, employ our neighbors and become part of its fabric. - Places to gather
Parks, trails, restaurants, community spaces and other places where neighbors naturally connect. - Services and amenities
Thoughtful additions that meet real community needs and make everyday life better. - Connected community
Places where people don't simply live near one another, but take part in the place they call home.
Growth, conservation and preservation
Once open space, habitat and natural connections are lost, they can be extraordinarily difficult, or impossible, to restore. Protecting the Valley means looking at the larger landscape, not one property at a time.
- Wildlife corridors and habitat
Protecting the connected spaces wildlife need to move, feed, reproduce and survive throughout the Valley. - Watersheds and water resources
Protecting watersheds and groundwater, and growth that respects the realities of the Sonoran Desert. - Trails and connectivity
Preserving walking, hiking, biking and equestrian connections before they are permanently lost. - Washes and open space
More than undeveloped land: vital to drainage, habitat, wildlife movement and native vegetation. - Dark skies
Encouraging responsible lighting that protects our night sky, our wildlife and an increasingly rare resource. - Views and rural character
Considering density, scale, design, landscaping and open space within the context of the Valley. - Equestrian heritage
Protecting the trails, properties and traditions that have been part of Valley life for generations.
